Headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland, Smart Computing Solutions, Inc. provides complete IT infrastructure services to small businesses in Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington D.C., as well as south Florida. They have a strong client base of about a hundred businesses, most with between 20 and 100 desktops. Key vertical markets include law firms, accounting firms, medical offices, retail, construction, and financial services.

    Smart Computing began partnering with Speakeasy in 2006 to take advantage of Speakeasy's extraordinary customer support for clients who needed DSL and T1 services. When Speakeasy began offering Hosted Voice, Smart Computing sold their first voice package to a forward-thinking client. "Continual growth isn't always the best business model," says Shapiro. "We've been very happy with the size of our client base and our focus on network infrastructure. So for us to be entering the voice sector wasn't about revenue opportunity. We just recognized that it was good for our clients." Today about 25% of Smart Computing's clients have some kind of Speakeasy service.
