Speakeasy Grows VoIP Customers; Powers Nonprofit Group, International Consulting Firm, Production Company

Three small businesses share experience with Hosted Voice; cost savings and efficiency improvements

SEATTLE, September 2, 2009—Speakeasy (www.speakeasy.net), a Best Buy company (NYSE:BBY), today announced 24 percent year-over-year growth in its VoIP customer base, highlighting three small business customers as examples. By switching to Speakeasy Hosted Voice service, these companies are saving thousands of dollars over traditional phone service, and taking advantage of advanced VoIP features to power their business.

A short video highlighting these diverse Speakeasy customers – CalibreOne, Playworks and Gorilla Tango – can be viewed here: www.speakeasy.net/promos/dancingcat.

Playworks is a non-profit headquartered in Oakland, bringing safe, healthy, and inclusive play opportunities to low-income schools nationwide. Playworks experienced significant reduction in operational costs with Hosted Voice, linking and operating 11 offices throughout the country with a staff of only two internal IT employees.

CalibreOne, an international consulting company headquartered in San Francisco, makes hundreds of weekly calls to their London office – calls that previously represented a substantial cost, but are now free with their hosted service.

Gorilla Tango, an entertainment production company in Chicago, estimates savings of at least 70 percent over traditional telephone services with Speakeasy, while taking advantage of some of the advanced features of a hosted system.

"It's clear our customers are realizing tremendous value with Speakeasy Hosted voice, as evidenced by our customer growth," said Bruce Chatterley, Speakeasy CEO. "Whether it be free international long distance, or the ability to expand and grow with minimal cost and hassle, our customers have found that hosted voice gives them the features they need at a substantial savings over traditional phone services."

Market conditions should continue to support Hosted Voice growth, with research firm Dell'Oro Group predicting IP lines will grow to almost 60 percent of small business line shipments by the year 2011, while traditional systems are expected to decline to less than 5 percent of the total market by 2011.
