- What broadband speed do I need to use Speakeasy Hosted Voice?
A minimum of 384Kbps, both directions (upload and download) is required to support the first two voice calls. Additional bandwidth is required for additional calls. A Speakeasy representative will be able to help you determine how much bandwidth you will need.
- May I use Speakeasy Hosted Voice with my existing broadband circuit?
Yes, provided it meets the minimum speeds for both upload and download. Also, QoS (Quality of Service) is available only with Speakeasy broadband.
- How clear will my voice calls be?
Your voice calls will sound as clear as traditional analog calls. Speakeasy focuses on call quality and prioritizes voice over data throughout our network to give you the best possible call, every time.
- What happens to my voice calls if my connectivity is interrupted?
If connectivity is interrupted, you will be unable to use your IP phone. You can, however re-route incoming calls to an alternate phone either through the web portal or by calling Speakeasy Support.
- Do I need new hardware with my service?
Yes. Depending on the solution, you may need new phones, a voice gateway, and additional equipment. - What are the primary benefits of Speakeasy Hosted Voice?
Speakeasy Hosted Voice customers do not need to purchase, lease or maintain a PBX. Customers also save money with free or low long distance rates. Moving/Adding/Changing employees can be done through a single call to Speakeasy. Also, Speakeasy Hosted Voice has many advanced features that improve overall productivity such as Remote Office, Find Me/Follow Me and Voicemail as Email. These features are not available with traditional phone service.
- What do the calling plans include?
Speakeasy EasyVoice calling plans include unlimited inbound and local calling. Different plans include free calling nationwide, 22 international countries or low metered rates. All calling plans (except EasyVoice Dialtone) include advanced features in addition to standard calling features.
- Does Speakeasy Voice support TRS?
Speakeasy also supports TRS (Telecommunications Relay Service) allowing customers who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have speech impediments to communicate with other customers using our Voice Services.
- Is faxing available with Speakeasy Hosted Voice?
Yes, faxing capabilities are available with Speakeasy Hosted Voice. Customers can choose from two EasyVoice calling plans for faxing including unlimited local or unlimited domestic long distance calling. An additional fee is charged per month.
- Is faxing quality compromised when faxing over VoIP?
On Speakeasy's optimized voice network, most customers experience the same quality as when faxing over the PSTN. Faxing is supported via either G.711 or the T.38 fax relay standard.
- Is the faxing service compatible with my fax machine?
Yes, Speakeasy's faxing capabilities work with all analog fax machines.
